“Since 9-11 the U.S. Army has worn the American flag on their right shoulder with the stars flying forward symbolizing the flag being flown into battle. “The Stars don’t run” became a common explanation when soldiers were asked about the addition to their uniform. The black and white colors are representative of the subdued flag patch worn into combat.
